About Waffle Unlimited

Waffle Unlimited started because I kept running out of puzzles. The daily limit was fun at first but then you finish it and the day feels weirdly empty. So I built something you can just keep playing without waiting around.

The idea is simple. You get a grid full of letters and you swap them around until every row and every column spells a real word. Letters that are already in the right spot turn green and lock in place. You just keep going until the whole thing is solved.

The game modes

There are a few ways to play. The main unlimited mode gives you a fresh puzzle every time you hit new game, so you can go as long as you want. The daily mode is one shared puzzle for everyone that resets at midnight, which is good if you like comparing your swap count with friends.

Hard mode flips the rules a bit. Instead of a swap limit, you get five mistakes allowed and unlimited swaps. It sounds easier but it really is not. Knowing you can swap forever but still lose on mistakes changes how you think about the puzzle.

Deluxe Waffle is a bigger version, 7x7 with eight words total. It takes longer to solve and it is a lot more satisfying when you finally crack it. Number Waffle is a completely different thing where you place numbers instead of letters, making sure every row and column has the numbers 1 through 7. Good if you want a break from words.

There is also a custom mode where you can build your own puzzle and share the link with someone. People use it to send puzzles with hidden messages inside the words, which is a nice idea.

Free, no account needed

Everything on here is free to play. No sign up, no account, nothing to install. Your stats get saved in your browser so you can see your streak and win rate, but that data stays on your device and never goes anywhere.

The site works on phone or desktop, whichever you prefer. On mobile you can tap to swap or drag tiles directly. On desktop you can click or drag. Both feel pretty good once you get used to them.
